Editing the first sections!
Previously, I was able to produce some scenes necessary for the film alone due to my group being unavailable at the time. With the help of my sister, we were able to produce scenes that included the protagonist alone and also scenes that required editing processes. While driving back home after the recordings, I was constantly thinking as to how I would edit each scene, what needed to be modified and what effects would need to be added. As we got home, I jumped off my sister's car and quickly went to my room to retrieve the scenes onto my laptop and search for editing effects required to make the sequence pop out. The main source I used to find some edits that would help this sequence was in YouTube.
The first thing I was looking for were some fire effects that could be used for a type of explosion. There were a lot of many cool and interesting background effect fires but the one I liked the most had to be from the YouTube Channel Channel Art Background. The fire effect in this clip demonstrates how an after of an explosion would look, scattered flames that build up and invade a lot of the space in the shot. I also needed the sound effects from the previous time I did research on the sound for the sequence; I was able to find it and use it for the sequence. I was worried about the environment of the scenes that were taken, they didn't have the feeling of a serious and action like film, and so, I went to work in finding a weather effect that would change the mood and background of the sequence. The scenes needed to look more dark to fit the tone of the sequence and the shots taken were pretty bright and not what I wanted to make the film look like. I had found a sketchy looking one, it was the only one that truly had the mood I was looking for but the video had many lightning bolts that kept playing, so I decided I would use it but manually remove the lightning bolts.
Now then, I booted up the editing app that I would be using for this final task, which was Shotcut. This program has been the one that I've been using for the past 3 years to edit any sort of media, ranging from social media post to Interviews. As I created the project file for this sequence, I immediately import the scenes that were recorded and start to organize them chronologically. I first started the editing process by going through each scene and removing the unnecessary background noises and also cutting out waste of time. Afterwards, I then proceeded to create lighting effects by setting the dimness of the shots to specific percentage that would give off a sense of mystery and ominous feels. The next thing I edited was the background for one of the scenes, in which I would remove the back of the scene that way I could add different clip to play that would correlate to the plot of the film. This was really all I could do for the first time in editing this film, I would have to need all the scenes in order to get more editing done, but since my group isn't still finished, I would have to edit another time. This just means that I would just need to continue filming other scenes and also look for more necessary editing utilities.
