Filming Blog: Recording

September 28th was our first day of actually starting to film for our commercial project! The props that I had to bring for today's recording was, sadly, a Dasani bottle of water. My job for filming was to actually hold the camera and set the angles up for each shot. Since I'll be doing most of the edits, and also not liking being put in the spot, I decided to film both Max and Jibril and their "amazing" acting skills.

So first off, I had to set the camera quality to be the best it could be and not be very pixelated that way the commercial would look clean. I had to use Jibril's phone since his had the best quality of video out of all of our phones.

For our first scene, I had stood near the bleachers in order to pan the jogging that Max had to act. After some takes, I had finally got the good take and then started to set up the next scene.

In this scene, I had to do a similar pan shot to the first but I had to also move the angle back to where the spot that Max would move to as if it were following him. The scene started with Maximus being exhausted and then the camera would have to move, following Max getting his Dasani and drinking it.

After that, I then setup a garbage can to the field with Maximus near the field in order to get our "Dasani Bottle Spike". I took many takes but after awhile, I had finally gotten the right shot needed for the Dasani to land inside the garbage bin. After this recording, I had to move the garbage bin back to the spot it was, and it was pretty difficult because of it's heaviness.

Afterward, we needed to do the "Holy Water Scene" where there would be a low angle shot to show God (Jibril) who would lend Maximus "Holy Water" (Zephyrhills Water). This scene would have to be shot the way it is to make it look as if it was actually from the heavens, in the sky. We had gotten the take needed after the first try, in which I got hurt from the bottle that dropped.

We then did our final recording of the day in which the water had to drop in Maximus' hands. This was a hard scene to record since we had only a few attempts to do the right scene necessary. Maximus had to wet himself with the water for the scene so I had to record with the best position and best angles possible. It was getting to the end of the class time but I was able to record the scene perfectly at the last minutes.
